Scholarship Categories

Type A

        Type A includes the National Bilateral Scholarship Program, the Great Wall Scholarship Program, the China-EU Student Exchange Program, the China-AUN Scholarship Program, and the Pacific islands Forum Program, etc.

        Applicants apply through the official application system of China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ by choosing “Type A”, entering the agency number of Chinese Embassy or Consulate or other designated scholarship receiving institutions in your country and listing Southwest University of Political Science & Law as your first choice university.

        Funding categories: Undergraduate student, Postgraduate student, Doctoral student, General and Senior Visiting student.

Type B

        Chinese University Program

        Applicants apply through the official application system of China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ by choosing “Type B", entering the agency number of SWUPL, 10652 to apply.

        Funding categories: master students and doctoral students.

 

Scholarship Coverage& Criteria

1. The scholarship covers registration fee (Type A), tuition, internship, accommodation on campus, and comprehensive medical insurance.

2. Monthly living allowance

        1) Bachelor students: CNY 2,500 Yuan

        2) Master students (general visiting students): CNY 3,000 Yuan

        3) Doctoral students (senior visiting students): CNY 3,500 Yuan

 

Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarship applicants must

        1. be a citizen of a country other than P. R. China, and be in good health;

        2. for Type B, not be a student in any Chinese universities or schools at the time of application;

        3. not be sponsored by any other kind of scholarship;

        4. and be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs, or be a bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs, or be a master's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

 

Application Procedures

1. Please refer to http://ww.csc.edu.cn/laihua and http://sie.swupl.edu.cn for detailed introduction to the scholarship.

2. Log on to the official website of China Scholarship Council (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register), register for user name and password before logging onto the system. Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer (11.0). Menu selection functions may not work in other browsers. Please complete the application in Chinese or English.

3. After logging onto the system with your registered username and password, read the Online Application Guidance carefully and follow the steps. PLEASE NOTE that when you choose "Type A” you should fill correctly the agency number of the application receiving institutions in your country, and that you should choose "Type B" to march the agency no. of SWUPL, i.e. 10652. Otherwise you will not be able to continue your online application.

4. Click "NEXT" and fill in the other information (education background and employment record, language proficiency and proposed study in China, etc. ) truly, correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.

5. Preview the application form after finishing it and then submit it online. You can withdraw your application to make changes, but make sure to submit it again. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not be received either.

6. SWUPL organizes expert panel to appraise the documents and makes a proposed list of applicants, and then reports to Chongqing Municipal Education Committee and China Scholarship Council for final appraisal and approval.

7. Getting the approval, SWUPL announces the result on http://sie.swupl. edu.cn/ and informs the winners via Email.

8. SWUPL posts Admission Notice and Visa Application Form (JW201) to the successful applicants directly by July.

 

Application Documents (in duplicate)

1.   Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in Chinese or English);

2.   Notarized highest diploma (photocopy);

Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3.    Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4.    A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English);

This should be a minimum of 200 words for undergraduate students, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for graduate students.

5.    Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);

Applicants for the graduate programs or the senior scholar programs must submit two recommendation letters signed by professors or associate professors.

6.    Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy), (written in English, only required for  applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months, can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org); The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

7.   The copy of Pre-admission Letter from designated Chinese university (if available);

8.   The copy of HSK Certificate (if available).

9.  A CV of yourself.

10.  Non-Criminal Record Certificate(in English).

All documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of 1 to 10. You should submit TWO sets of bound documents. And no application documents will be returned.

 

Application Deadline

Every March for Type A (refer to application receiving agency for exact date).

Every April 1 for Type B.
